Tapered Fluorocarbon leader lines

Careful with Fluorocarbon leader lines if you are going to tie them together with nylon line. As they are much harder than nylon, they cut through them when under load.  Use in this case small rings, e.g. vision tippet rings tippet rings or similar.

As Fluorocarbon is much harder, they need to be really stretched out before fishing and the easiest way is to first pull them through between your thumb and index finger to warm them up a little and then stretch them out bit by bit. On greater thicknesses, you may need to use a leader line tensioner with a little care.

If a line tensioner is used, make sure that it does not burn.
